Ken and JoAnne Bird are veteran campers, originally from South Florida, that migrated to north Texas in 1990.

They have camped in tents and pop -up campers growing up as children , in a tent in Germany, Holland, and Austria when Ken was stationed in the Army in Germany from 1970-73, in a old Class A Winnebago when their two boys were growing up, and now in a 26 ft North Trail trailer purchased in 2015.

JoAnne is a retired kindergarten teacher, after teaching in Allen ISD for 18 years. She enjoys cross word puzzles, quilting, crocheting, and playing dominos or cards.

Ken retired from JCPenney Co. as a Senior Systems Engineer after 42 years working in various management positions in South Florida and Texas. He got the opportunity to move to the corporate office in 1990 and joined the IT Quality Assurance Team that tested store software programs for our stores. He helps friends with computer problems and often cleans them up after being infected with malware and enjoys doing odd jobs around the house.

We adopted our dog, Rhodie, from Mazzie's rescue organization after he was found dumped along a country road at the age of four weeks old. He now rides shot gun in the back seat of the truck on our camping trips and enjoys long walks on our camping trips.

We joined the Texas North Star Sams group in 2015 after we purchased our current trailer and look forward to many trips in our trailer.
